Prilosec is an anti-ulcer drug. One capsule of Prilosec includes active ingredient: omeprazole - 20 mg;
Additional components: titanium dioxide, sodium lauryl sulfate, gelatin, nipagin, glycerin, E 129 dye, and purified water.
As a result of t of the drug, basal and stimulated secretion is reduced, regardless of the nature of the stimulus. After taking Prilosec in a dose of 20 mg, the antisecretory effect appears within the first hour (maximum after 2 hours).
During the day, 50% of the maximum secretion is inhibited. As a result of a single dose, rapid effective suppression of night and day gastric secretion is ensured, reaching a maximum after 4 days of therapy and disappearing 3–4 days after the end of its effect.
After taking Prilosec in a dose of 20 mg for 17 hours, the intragastric pH is maintained at level 3. The pharmacokinetics of Prilosec is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. The maximum plasma concentration is reached in 30–60 minutes.
Bioavailability is 30–40% (in patients with hepatic insufficiency, it increases to almost 100%). The substance has a high lipophilicity and easily penetrates into the parietal cells.
Indications for use of Prilosec are:
Pancreatic adenoma (Zollinger-Ellison syndrome);
Peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer;
Erosive and ulcerative lesions of the stomach and duodenum associated with Helicobacter pylori (as part of a comprehensive treatment);
You should take Prilosec orally with a small amount of water. You should net bite a capsule. Synchronous admission with sustenance does not influence the adequacy of the medication.
